Mila Neal

Department(s): Violin

Mila Neal is a freelance violinist in Houston who regularly performs with the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet orchestras. A native of Philadelphia, she began playing violin in kindergarten. She earned her BMus degree in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and then continued on to the Yale University School of Music where she completed both a MMus degree and Artist Diploma. Teaching for over 30 years, Ms. Mila draws on this strong pedagogical foundation and most enjoys passing on how she was taught to practice, problem solve and tell stories through the violin. She moved to Houston in 2001 with her husband Christopher, a first violinist in the Houston Symphony. When not teaching and performing with Houston’s leading ensembles, Ms. Mila enjoys distance running and baking fancy celebration cakes.
