Grace Roman

Lyric soprano Grace Roman is a professional vocalist, voice teacher, and Associate Director of Music and Fine Arts at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. At home on the stage and in the concert hall, favorite previous roles include Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Mrs. Bennett (Pride & Prejudice), Polina (The Summer’s Tale – US Premiere), Meg (Leading Ladies), Edwin Drood/Alice Nutting/Dick Datchery (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Josephine (HMS Pinafore), and Meg (Little Women). As a concert soloist, Grace has been featured in Brahms’ A German Requiem, the world premiere of Howard Goodall’s Unconditional Love, Schumann’s Der Rose Pilgerfahrt, and Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light with Conspirare. Grace also enjoys giving recitals with her husband, organist Jim Roman, where they frequently premiere new music written for organ and voice. She is a staff singer at St. Luke’s UMC, teaches private voice lessons through Bridges Academy of Fine Arts at St. Luke’s, and has sung with the Houston Symphony Chorus and Mercury Singers. She was recently named the winner of the 2025 Martha Marcks Mack Award from the National Association of Music Clubs. Grace has a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Florida, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Vocal Pedagogy at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music where she studies with Melanie Sonnenberg.
