About Bridges Academy of Fine Arts

Teaching, guiding and inspiring music students of all ages

Bridges Academy of Fine Arts has been teaching, guiding and inspiring music students of all ages at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, TX since 2000. Beverly Laubach joined Bridges Academy as director in 2002 and continues to teach voice students and oversee the thriving music school.

Over the years, our faculty has grown and changed, but consistently comprises some of the city's top musicians and professional instructors. The average student enrollment each semester is now around 300 students.  We offer to all the opportunity to perform each month on recital, with larger, more formal recitals at Christmas and at the end of the spring semester.  Each year we try to bring in master clinicians to teach in a public setting and open these classes to all of our student body.

Perhaps the most important outcome of the private study program at Bridges Academy is the growth and improvement of all our choirs at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. To the trained ears of all the members of the music staff, our choirs are sounding better than ever, and, in addition, attendance has improved and the “learning curve” has become shorter. We attribute these wonderful changes to the high numbers of choral singers who are studying voice and piano and to the excellent instruction they have received, which has enabled them to sing with better technique and to become stronger musicians. Many of these singers have become regular soloists in worship, sharing their talent with the congregation in praise of God.  In this way, our Fine Arts Academy has come full circle: identifying talent, giving instruction, and encouraging the performer to lead in worship and give back the talent to the creator.

It has been our great pleasure to see our students grow and develop into fine musicians and performers. We hope you will join us in this exciting and fulfilling journey soon.
